This Gunne Sax by Jessica McClintock dress perfectly embodies the nostalgic hippie trends of the early to mid 1970s. Full length and elaborate, this is one of the more expensive medieval inspired gowns composed of a non-stretch, unbleached poplin cotton/polyester blend fabric. The dress is light weight and breathable, with puffed 'Juliette' sleeves which narrow at the wrist. There is a front fastening lace up section which is entirely adjustable and can be tightened or loosened to suit the wearer’s preference. It features a braided raffia trim at the front, around the neckline, on the sleeves, and along the top of the pleated flounced hem. The ties and yoke at the waist of the dress create a beautifully fitted and romantic silhouette. The dress closes with a central back zip hidden behind a placket.
These dresses were worn to events and parties and tend to have suffered over time; however this example is in fabulous vintage condition with no discernible flaws. It would make a superb wedding dress for the bohemian bride :-) Will fit a range of sizes up to a UK size 10 or US 6.
